Project Overview:
MECO successfully executed a comprehensive upgrade to CEGCO’s fire safety infrastructure, ensuring enhanced protection and compliance with industry standards. The project scope included:
• Transformer Protection: Replacement of deluge systems for transformers in Units 3, 4, and 5.
• Fire Detection System Upgrade: Replacement of 10 local fire detection control panels and installation of a new master addressable fire detection control panel with an advanced graphic workstation.
• Hydrant System Expansion: Installation of new fire hydrants to strengthen firefighting capabilities.
• Hydrogen Plant Fire Protection: Installation of an automatic deluge system to safeguard the hydrogen generation plant.
• Advanced UV/IR Detection Systems: Deployment of UV/IR detectors across multiple critical areas, including:
- Hydrogen detection system for the hydrogen generation plant.
- Fire detection for boilers’ burners in Units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Fire protection for steam turbines in Units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Gas safety monitoring at gas reducing stations in Units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Fire detection solutions for chemical warehouses.
- Protection of the main HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) tank.
- Safety measures for the HFO unloading area.
- Installation of a beam-type smoke detection system for warehouse fire safety.
• Emergency Backup Power: Installation of an emergency diesel generator dedicated to the foam building for enhanced fire response capabilities. This project reflects MECO’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge fire safety solutions, ensuring operational safety, regulatory compliance, and asset protection for critical power generation facilities.
